History of Absorption Shield

Overview

An Absorption Shield is a defensive barrier that enemies use in combat. It appears as a translucent bubble around the enemy. Damage wears the shield down until it is removed, and matching elemental damage drains it faster. Brute force can also break a shield without matching damage, but this takes longer and wastes ammo. If a shielded enemy takes no damage for a while, its barrier recharges quickly.

Elements

Shields come in several elements, including Solar and Arc variants. Since Season of the Deep, shields look different depending on the element that matches them: Void shields show ripples and spirals, Solar shields show flames, Arc shields show electricity and Strand shields show vertical lines.

Bosses

Vorlog changes shield element. It is protected by an Arc shield when first summoned. If it is given time to regenerate after a shield is destroyed, it can change to Solar or Void very quickly. Vorlog is a Tier 1 boss of the Court of Oryx public event.
