History of Abstract Gate Lord

Overview

The Abstract Gate Lord is a large Vex Minotaur of the Gate Lord subtype, ranked Ultra and part of the Sol Collective. It was introduced in Destiny 2: Beyond Light. It fires powerful Void projectiles from range with its Void Torch Hammer, and it stomps the ground when the player is close. Its abilities are High Durability, Rapid Movement and a Kinetic Temporal Shockwave.

Location

A pair of Abstract Gate Lords appears in Creation at Bray Exoscience, where the Clovis Bray AI is located. They spawn at the end of the Reforging the Past mission, one on either side of the AI's head.

Role in the Lament storyline

The Vex invade Bray Exoscience to destroy the Clovis Bray AI and steal the unforged remnants of The Lament. The Gate Lords arrive after the player has acquired the reforged Lament, while the Vex are spawning again. Use the Lament to clear the Vex attacking the Clovis Bray AI, then defeat the Abstract Gate Lord and hear the AI's response. The reforged Lament's revive ability is effective against them, and Heavy Ammo crates spawn in the room.

Final dialogue

Clovis Bray's letter explains that his motive is his legacy, and also his fear that death holds nothing, with no afterlife or loved ones. He sees the player as a second chance to continue his work and make amends. He gives the player a blade built for them, asks them to keep it close, and closes with "Stay alive."
