History of Aim Assist

Aim assist is the system that guides shots toward targets, governed by the Aim Assistance Weapon stat.

How it works

The Destiny Game Wiki describes three mechanics: bullet magnetism (path correction; all inputs), and reticle magnetism and reticle friction (controller only). The stat widens an invisible cone; Range extends its depth, Stability stops it shrinking during sustained fire, and zoom indirectly extends it. IBTimes adds that bullets only bend within a weapon's effective range, and that assist falls off as bloom grows during continuous fire.

Where it matters

Perks and mods such as Hip-Fire Grip raise it; values differ per weapon (the Last Word is noted as strong on controller).
