History of Bane Challenge Modifiers

Bane Challenge Modifiers is a triumph: complete an activity with a Bane modifier active. Banes are turned on in the Challenge Modifiers section of Ops activity customization.

How to complete

1. Open an activity in the Portal or Vanguard Ops and press Customize.
2. In Challenge Modifiers, pick a Bane (the first slot is for Banes). Banes add new abilities to random enemies, e.g. spawning mini-Screebs when taking sustained damage. You may select up to two at Advanced difficulty.
3. Finish the activity.

Each added modifier raises the activity score, which improves gear tier. A forum answer notes Bane-empowered enemies only spawn on Expert difficulty or higher, which may matter for older content. Seal/reward unconfirmed; one search summary says the triumph was added in Season 27.
