Overview

The frontal-blade perk on Cull's Shadow, a Season 29 Exotic Fusion Rifle, is called Blades of Unmaking. Its description is a melee prompt for a frontal two-hit blade combo. It does not appear as a rollable perk on any other weapon.

The frontal blades are the weapon's foundational perk, letting you perform a swift two-way melee combo with the sharp blades attached to the barrel.

Blade effects

Landing final blows or rapid hits with the frontal blades activates Soulburn. This heals you and grants Soulfire charges. Rounds fired after you gain those charges inflict corruption. The frontal blades deal significantly increased damage to enemies suffering from that corruption.

Catalysts

The weapon has four trait catalysts, all earned through the Oblation missions.

  • Soulfire Succor: unlocked through the runed door in Oblation: Soulfed. Destroying a crystal with the melee blades grants extra charges and partially reloads the magazine from reserves.
  • Soulfire Rancor: awarded for clearing the encounter bosses in Oblation: Soulfed. Crystals detonate on their own when hostiles get too close.
  • Soulfire Zeal: awarded for solving the six-rune statue puzzle in Oblation: Soulfed. It grants extra damage resistance and movement speed when a nearby crystal detonates while the gun is equipped.
  • Soulfire Skewer: the final catalyst, from the closing challenge of Oblation: Emulation. Basic frontal blade attacks inflict corruption after a nearby crystal explodes.

Soulforge: when corrupted enemies die, their remains coalesce into explosive Soulfire crystals.

The base weapon drops from the final boss of Oblation: Bloodline, which is entered through a secret door under the bridge in Sorrow's Harbor.
