History of Bounty

A Bounty is a short repeatable task that grants XP and loot, tracked in the Pursuits screen.

Overview

Bounties are bought or picked up from vendors such as Commander Zavala, Lord Shaxx, Banshee-44, Devrim Kay and Ana Bray (Destinypedia). They come as Daily (expire after 24 hours; about 6,000 XP in the sourced guide), Weekly (7 days; about 12,000 XP, some with Bright Dust or Legendary gear) and Repeatable types. Reward amounts are from older guides and have changed across seasons. Destinypedia calls bounties one of the faster ways to level the season pass.

Where to find them

Shacknews says that from Season of Opulence and Shadowkeep Pursuits and bounties moved out of the inventory into the Quests tab of the Director. Later UI changes may have moved them again. Compare Bounty Hunt.
