History of Box Breathing

Overview

Box Breathing rewards aiming down sights without firing. After about 1.5 seconds of aiming without shooting, your next shot gets extra range and precision damage. The bonus resets when you fire or leave zoom.

As of the November 2024 community research, the buff adds +10% aim assist falloff distance and +1 to the precision multiplier for one shot (for example, 1.5x becomes 2.5x). Scout Rifles take about a 5% precision penalty while the perk is active. A later tuning pass gave the first precision shot a flat damage buff, reduced for the Heavy Ammo Sniper.

It rolls on a wide pool of Sniper Rifle and Scout Rifle rolls, so check the Rolls On list for the exact weapon.

Notes

In Forsaken (2018) the perk was one of the strongest weapon perks in the game and was nerfed. The nerf is the basis for the current values.
