History of Chest Armor

Chest Armor is the torso armor slot. A Guardian wears five armor-type items: a Helmet, Gauntlets, chest armor, Leg Armor and a class item. Each armor piece rolls random base stats, which in Destiny 2 are Mobility, Resilience and Recovery. Rarity is tied to the armor set, with higher rarity gear carrying more perks and mods.

Exotic chest pieces are unique per class and often change how a class's abilities behave. Examples include Hallowfire Heart for Warlocks, The Armamentarium for Titans and Lucky Raspberry for Hunters. Armor from the same set combines toward set bonuses.

Class items (cloaks for Hunters, bonds for Warlocks, marks for Titans) do not add defense and are mostly cosmetic.
