History of Cold Steel

Overview

Cold Steel is a sword trait on Zephyr, Aurora Dawn and The Slammer. Powered Sword hits apply a Stasis slow.

On Zephyr, Shacknews says Cold Steel applies slow stacks for 4.25 seconds: light attacks add 40 stacks and heavy attacks add 60. Enough hits can freeze an enemy, which helps against champions. Zephyr is earned during the seasonal Dawning event and is a Stasis Adaptive Frame sword. Aurora Dawn is a Stasis Wave Sword heavy from Edge of Fate activities.

Notes

A September 2024 Bungie forum report said heavy attacks with a Caster frame sword (such as Ill Omen) did not apply slow to PvE enemies, while light attacks still did. The fix status was not confirmed, so check current patch notes before relying on heavy-attack slows.
