Overview
Disruption is a story mission in the The Edge of Fate campaign, set on Kepler in the Oort Cloud. The Vex are casting a protective signal to the Collective, and you must find a way to bring it down. It is part of The Gorge Strangelet quest line and is played with your Ghost, Ikora Rey and Orin on comms.
Destinypedia places it in the Assimilated Easement, inside an abandoned Golden Age research facility, and lists it after "Charge" and before Calculus. One guide says Calculus becomes available only after Disruption is done, so play them in that order.
Walkthrough
- Follow the signal through the cave networks to the Golden Age lab, using the train portal and fighting through Vex units (Harpies, Goblins, Hydras).
- Use Matterspark and Mattermorph to pass the puzzle rooms. On Legendary, patrolling Minotaurs cannot be fought: a guide advises finding a red-lit ceiling vent, going Matterspark and taking the side vent past them.
- In the boss room, use Mattermorph on the pillars to expose the signal cubes, then destroy the cubes to drop the shields on the three Dampening Minds (Minotaur bosses; Destinypedia names them Stichos, Choros and Coda). They can be killed one at a time or together.
- Extract the data from the Golden Age terminal.
Variants
The mission has Normal and Legendary versions, plus Fabled Mission: Disruption and Mythic Mission: Disruption at higher power. See also Mission: Disruption.
Rewards
Glimmer, materials and gear; completing it moves the Gorge Strangelet quest forward. Per Destinypedia, the recovered data shows the Vex learning to copy the Nine's paracausal abilities.
Notes
Sources differ on the exact mission order around Disruption (one guide mentions a "Surveillance" encounter before it); treat the in-game quest steps as authoritative.
