History of Dividing the Ladder

Overview

Dividing the Ladder is the introductory Competitive Crucible quest, picked up from Lord Shaxx in the Tower. It arrived in Season of the Seraph with the reworked tiered Competitive playlist and takes seven matches.

Walkthrough

1. Complete one match in the Competitive playlist.
2. Complete your Placement Series, 7 matches (wins are not required), to establish your starting division on the tiered ladder. Freelance Competitive works if you lack a fireteam.
3. Return to Lord Shaxx in the Tower.

Rewards

• Lord Shaxx follows it with the quest "Ascending the Divisions" (per GameRiv). The search results for other guides also mention a first-completion reward; sources disagree, so check in-game.

Trivia

• The ladder has seven divisions (Copper to Ascendant), each with three sub-ranks.
