Europa is the frozen moon of Jupiter introduced as a destination in the Beyond Light expansion (November 2020), covered by abandoned Golden Age settlements buried in ice. Destinypedia gives its diameter as 3,122 km.
Overview
The moon is tied to Stasis and the Europan Pyramid. Main threats are the House of Salvation (Fallen) under Kell Eramis, the Sol Collective (Vex) and the Barant Imperium (Cabal), with occasional Hive incursions. Wikipedia notes the expansion's campaign pits the player against Eramis.
Regions
- Charon's Crossing - enemy-free landing zone with Variks.
- Eventide Ruins - former Clovis Bray colony containing the Fallen city Riis-Reborn and several Lost Sectors.
- Cadmus Ridge - home of the Bray Exoscience facility, which holds Eternity (see that page).
- Asterion Abyss - Vex-heavy, including the Nexus.
- Rathmore Chaos - patrol area.
Activities
Lost Sectors (Bunker E15, Concealed Void, Perdition), weekly rotating Eclipsed Zones, Empire Hunts against Fallen lieutenants, and the six-player raid Deep Stone Crypt (released November 21, 2020), set in a Clovis Bray facility and facing Atraks-1 and Taniks. Materials: Glacial Starwort and Herealways Pieces.
Lore
Deep Golden Age history lives here: Clovis Bray established a colony that was lost in the Collapse, and the Deep Stone Crypt was built to produce Alkahest, essential to creating Exos. A Pyramid emerged from the ice, drawing Guardian attention.
History
Beyond Light launched with Europa and four seasons followed it (Hunt, Chosen, Splicer, Lost), per Wikipedia; critics there praised Europa's design.
