History of Exotic Esoterica

Overview

Exotic Esoterica is a Triumph that requires you to discover all Exotic Tonics. Tonics were added in Episode: Revenant, and the Exotic versions are a separate, rarer tier of the same brews. The triumph has no progress counter; it completes when every Exotic tonic type has been discovered.

How to complete

There are three Exotic tonic types. Brew them at the Tonic Laboratory in The Last City.

1. Tonic of Ascendant Shards and Tonic of Ascendant Alloys: collect the Slayer's Fang intrinsic trait upgrades in Kell's Fall. Any order works, and the upgrades unlock both recipes. Both tonics use the same ingredients: 2 Enriching Nugget, 2 Enriching Flake, 2 Tomb Flake, 2 Reflective Flake, 6 Enriching Powder and 60 Reclaimed Vitality.
2. Tonic of Exotic Ciphers: there is no recipe. It has a slim chance to appear when you brew a Legendary tonic, and Volatile tonics do not produce it. The cheapest route is a Legendary World Gear Tonic, which costs 2 Enriching Nugget, 3 Enriching Powder and 20 Reclaimed Vitality. Onslaught, Tomb of Elders and Kell's Fall tonics each cost one extra reagent: an Enriching Flake, Tomb Flake or Reflective Flake.
3. Raise your odds with the Extraordinary Tonics upgrade from Eido, unlocked through Act 1 Major Fieldwork.

Tips

• Brew several uncommon tonics to unlock a rare recipe, and the same pattern applies from rare to legendary. A Legendary brew is the only source of the Ciphers tonic, so plan your reagents around it.
• Each Exotic tonic lasts 112 minutes.
• The Ciphers tonic is the hardest of the three because there is no recipe. Keep brewing Legendary tonics until it appears.
