Overview
Field General is an Iron Banner triumph in Destiny 2. It asks for one Iron Banner match in which you finish with the highest combined total of Advantage and Hunt kills. Iron Banner is a monthly special Crucible playlist with its own match rules. The live event runs during the first reset week of each month and lasts a full week.
How to complete
- Start an Iron Banner match from the Crucible tab during the event week. Other Crucible modes do not count.
- Learn the match rules. Iron Banner plays like Control with three capture zones. Holding one zone gives +1 point, two zones give +2 and all three give +3. Kills while holding more than one zone add extra points.
- Understand the Hunt phase. When a team takes all three zones, the zones lock for 25 seconds. During that window kills give the hunting team +3 points each, while the hunted team gets only +1. Hunt kills are the kills scored in this phase.
- Earn Advantage kills. Iron Banner applies Power Level advantages: lower-power Guardians take more damage and deal less to higher-power enemies. Keep your Power Level at or above the match average where you can.
- Know the mercy rule. The match ends early if one team reaches 60% of the score before the other reaches 20%, which cuts short the time you have to build your total.
- Play the whole match. The triumph is judged per match, so you need the single highest total among all players in that match.
The Iron Banner guide is flagged as outdated and mentions a Season 17 rework, so check the current rules in game before you start.
Seal and rewards
Field General is an Iron Banner event triumph with no reward in game data. Iron Banner matches also award Iron Banner Tokens (3-5 for a win, 1-3 for a loss), which can be turned in to Lord Saladin at the Tower for Iron Engrams once his seasonal quest is complete.
Trivia
The Iron Banner rule set changes between seasons, so older guides may describe different zone point values.
