History of Focused Fishing

Overview

Focused Fishing is the Fishing bonus meter, shown in the lower-left corner while fishing at a Fishing Pond. It fills when any Guardian catches a Legendary or Exotic fish, and fish caught by nearby players and fireteam members also count. Each filled section makes fish bite more often and improves the odds of rarer catches, including Exotic fish. Perfect Catches don't fill it directly, but they and Bait raise the chance of higher-quality fish.

Limits

The bar resets when the pond respawns. If a Public Event starts, the pond despawns and the buff is lost. Even at maximum, Exotic fish remain random, so the meter improves the odds without guaranteeing a catch.

The mechanic was introduced with Season of the Deep. The source used is dated May 2023, so details may have changed in later seasons.
