History of Gardener and Winnower

Overview

Gardener and Winnower is a Triumph named after the two principles of the Garden in Destiny lore. In the story, the Gardener manages the rules for placing and sustaining flowers, and the Winnower manages the rules for culling them.

Lore

The Garden is the field of possibility that came before time and space. Within it, a flower game simulates possible universes, ending in a dominant pattern called the Final Shape. The Gardener proposed a rule rewarding complexity and difference, inserted itself into the game as Light, and so made the Winnower's rule, Darkness, valid too. The conflict between the two then continued in the universe that formed from the damaged garden.
