History of Heat

Heat weapons are a weapon archetype family introduced in Destiny 2: Renegades (released December 2, 2025). They fire from reserves and build up heat with each shot instead of reloading, and the player manages heat by venting or letting the weapon cool.

Examples

• Voltaic Shade: an Arc Scout Rifle from the Equilibrium dungeon, listed as a "Balanced Heat" archetype (260 RPM), with perks such as Overclocked Heatsink and Tactical Heatsink.
• Other weapons labeled "Dynamic heat": the hand cannons Uncivil Discourse and Modified B-7 Pistol, the pulse rifle All or Nothing, the sidearm Compact Defender and the submachine gun M-17 "Fast Talker".
