History of Illegally Modded Holster

Illegally Modded Holster is the intrinsic perk on Lucky Pants. With a Hand Cannon equipped, it improves sprinting, sliding, and airborne effectiveness. For a short time after drawing a Hand Cannon, it readies faster, is more accurate, and builds damage against combatants with each hit.

Bungie previewed the rework on October 3, 2024; it shipped with Update 8.1.0 on October 8. The change made movement and airborne-effectiveness bonuses active while a Hand Cannon is equipped, removed the matching-Super or Kinetic requirement for the PvE damage bonus, and lowered its maximum damage from 600% to 450%. Update 7.3.6 extended the handling bonus by two seconds so it lasts until the cooldown debuff begins. Update 9.7.0 reduced the perk’s bonus damage against bosses by about 33% on June 9, 2026.
