Killing Wind is a Weapon Perk that grants increased mobility, weapon range, and handling for a short time after a final blow. Bungie classifies it as a kill-chaining perk. Update 8.1.0.3 replaced it on the curated Deadlock roll.

Overview

Killing Wind is a Trait that rolls on a wide spread of weapon types. The manifest roll list includes Hawkmoon, Biting Winds, Glacioclasm and Finite Impactor, among many others. Its effect is per weapon: only the weapon that gets the final blow receives the boost.

Numbers

The boost is short. A 2020 report on the Season 11 perks put it at about 5 seconds per kill, with consecutive kills extending it, so it can run for longer during a kill streak. The range increase varies by weapon and adds a few meters. The 2020 figures may have changed since then.

Tips

Killing Wind suits weapons that keep getting kills in quick succession, since each kill refreshes the boost. The perk is mainly a reach and handling bonus, so it is a comfortable pick on weapons that are already consistent at range.
