History of Kinetic

Overview

Kinetic is the non-elemental damage type used by weapons in Destiny 2's Kinetic slot. Kinetic weapons are equipped in the first weapon slot and generally deal bonus damage to unshielded combatants compared with elemental weapons, while matching elemental damage to a shield can help break it more quickly.

The Kinetic slot can also hold weapons with Stasis or Strand damage, so slot and damage type are separate properties. Check an individual weapon's page for its damage type and perks.
