History of Last Word

Last Word is the Exotic quest that rewards The Last Word, an Exotic Hand Cannon. It was released in Season of the Forge and is given by the Drifter. Destinypedia calls the quest "The Draw". The Drifter has acquired an ancient Hive artifact, and the quest follows its cleansing and the Drifter's growing suspicion of its source. Destinypedia notes that the Drifter offers stolen pages from The Book of Unmaking to help the player understand the artifact.

The main steps are to cleanse the artifact by defeating Hive and gathering items, feed it Light by defeating Guardians in the Crucible, stop a Hive ritual in a Lost Sector, and track down the Hive weapon master Enkaar in Hellrise Canyon. The quest ends when Enkaar, the Anointed is defeated and the Last Word is shown to the Drifter.

The quest was sunsetted when Beyond Light released. A 2023 PCGamesN guide says the weapon can instead be purchased from the Monument to Lost Lights terminal in the Tower, but that guide predates later changes, so check current availability.
