History of Last Word

Last Word is the Exotic quest that rewards The Last Word, an Exotic Hand Cannon. It was released in Season of the Forge and is given by the Drifter. The quest is also known as "The Draw".

The Drifter has acquired an ancient Hive artifact and stolen pages from The Book of Unmaking. The quest follows the artifact's cleansing and the Drifter's growing suspicion of its source. The main steps are to cleanse the artifact by defeating Hive with Solar damage and gathering items, feed it Light by earning kills and assists in the Crucible, and stop a Hive ritual in the Cargo Bay 3 Lost Sector on Titan. Then the player gathers items for a ritual of their own and tracks down the Hive weapon master Enkaar, who hides in Hellrise Canyon on the Tangled Shore, and defeats him in a duel. The quest ends with Enkaar defeated and The Last Word shown to the Drifter, who warns the player not to trust the man who gave it to them.

The quest was sunsetted when Beyond Light released. A 2023 guide reports the weapon could also be bought from the Monument to Lost Lights terminal in the Tower.
