Overview
Leviathan was the first Destiny 2 Raid, released September 13, 2017 for six players. It takes place on Emperor Calus's pleasure barge, the Leviathan, orbiting Nessus. Its recommended Power was 270 on Normal and 300 on Prestige (added October 18, 2017). It was the first Destiny raid with cutscenes and voice acting. The raid was sunset with Destiny 2: Beyond Light in November 2020 (vaulted, with the Normal and Prestige difficulties no longer available) and has been referenced in later events; check current availability in game.
Structure
A hub, the Castellum, connects the trials. Doors are unlocked with Standards: Royal Pools is behind the Sun door, Pleasure Gardens behind the Dog, the Gauntlet behind the Axes and Calus behind the Chalice. Players only fight one true boss, Emperor Calus.
Encounters
; Castellum
: Split into four defenders and two scouts to capture three flags and open the way.
; Royal Pools
: Teams of three rotate between plates, kill Bathers, and shoot suspended canisters during damage phases.
; Pleasure Gardens
: Collect flowers (pollen) while two players use prism stones to guide the group; the goal is to kill six Royal Beasts.
; The Gauntlet
: Two runners navigate obstacle courses while four shooters call out and shoot safe zones; runners see a red outlined hole (top, middle, bottom) and the shooters hit the unmarked locations.
; Calus
: Fireteam splits between a shadow realm and the throne room, calling out symbols and then dealing damage to the emperor.
Hidden underbelly sections hold nine loot chests.
Lairs
The raid has two lair variants: Leviathan, Eater of Worlds and Leviathan, Spire of Stars, both added with Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris-era content.
Rewards
Legend of Acrius (Exotic), class raid armor sets, and Legendaries such as Midnight Coup and Sins of the Past.
