History of Malfeasance

Malfeasance is an Exotic Hand Cannon (Kinetic) from Destiny 2: Forsaken, earned through Gambit.

Overview

Its intrinsic perk, Explosive Shadow, embeds rounds in enemies; at five stacks they detonate together for extra damage and a stun, which is effective against Unstoppable Champions. Another source also notes bonus damage against Taken.

Acquisition

Complete the quest Malfeasance (quest) (called "Darkness in the Light" in guides), begun by defeating an Ascendant Primeval in Gambit to get The Seething Heart, then handed to The Drifter. Later steps include 25 Taken boss or miniboss kills in the Dreaming City, a Corrupted mission, Gambit mote deposits and invasion kills ("Lights Out"). Since patch 2.8.0 it is available without owning Forsaken.

Catalyst

The Malfeasance Catalyst drops from Strikes, Crucible or Gambit once you own the weapon. Defeating 700 enemies with it masterworks it and adds Vorpal Weapon (more damage to bosses, vehicles and Supers) and +20 Range.
