History of Mask

Overview

In Festival of the Lost, a Mask is the event helmet that a Guardian must wear to take part in the event economy. Eva Levante gives a Festival mask for free at the start of the event. Per PCGamesN, the mask is needed to earn Spectral Pages, which become Manifested Pages when you defeat a Headless One in Haunted Sectors. Shattered Vault and PCGamesN also state that an equipped mask is required to earn Candy from defeated enemies and activities, so the mask is the bonus-earning item.

Variants

Many masks can be earned or bought: the 2025 event listed the Masquerader's Helm, Weasel Error Mask, Oryx Mask and Orin Mask, and the 2023 list included the Clovis Bray, Tormentor, Pouka, Calus, Nimbus and Mara Sov masks. Masks earned from the intro quest and from Expert Haunted Sectors can have high stat spikes and start at a higher masterwork level (7 instead of 3) per PCGamesN, a 2023-era detail that may have changed. One daily challenge, "Masked Bandit", asks for Crucible or Gambit matches while wearing a Festival mask (see Daily Challenge).

Not to be confused with individual armor pieces named "Mask of ..." such as Mask of Rull.
