Overview
Medals are awards shown during Crucible, Gambit and Strike activities for achieving specific goals, such as killing enemies with a Super, reviving allies or keeping an unbroken killstreak. Destinypedia says they have no bearing on gameplay apart from showing the awarded player the feat. Examples: Blood for Blood and Double Down (Crucible), Army of One and Half-Banked (Gambit).
Categories
Destinypedia (written for the original game) groups them into ability, game type, spree, win, special-kill and multi-kill medals, and describes a separate Strike scoring system with Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers. Medals also count toward many Triumphs, for example Multi-Medaler.
Not to be confused with
- The Guardian Games Medallion currency, whose Bronze to Diamond tiers are also sometimes called medals.
- Pantheon (the boss rush), where defeating enemies and earning medals raises the fireteam score (TheGamer).
The Destinypedia source covers Destiny 1 era medals only; Destiny 2 lists have changed.
