History of Merciless Catalyst

Overview

Merciless Catalyst is a Triumph in Destiny 2 that requires defeating enemies with Merciless, an Exotic Fusion Rifle. Its two objectives are to insert the Catalyst twice (0/2) and to defeat 500 enemies with Merciless (0/500).

How to complete

1. Get Merciless. It can drop from PvE or PvP activities, from Exotic Engrams, or be bought from Xûr.
2. Earn the Merciless Catalyst by completing Strikes on Heroic or Nightfall difficulty. The catalyst drops at random, so there is no fixed number of strikes to run.
3. Insert the Catalyst into Merciless twice to complete the first objective.
4. Defeat 500 enemies with Merciless to complete the second objective. Any enemy type counts.

Catalyst

The Merciless Catalyst increases the rifle's range and stability, which makes long-range shots easier to land. Its upgrade unlocks by defeating 500 enemies with Merciless, the same count as the triumph's second objective, so the kill grind for the catalyst and the triumph is shared.
