History of Mercury
Revision 3287 by archivist at 2026-10-01 18:23:09
Mercury is the first planet of the Sol System, transformed by the Vex into a Machine World. Once a Golden Age garden world, it was "baked in the Sun's glare".
Regions
Caloris Basin holds Fields of Glass (with the Infinite Forest and the Lighthouse), Pariah's Refuge and Sundial Spire. The Languid Sea includes Icarus, a former solar farm.
Activities
The Lighthouse (for Flawless Trials of Osiris players), the Infinite Forest simulation, strikes and adventures such as "The Runner" and "Bug in the System", and Crucible maps like Altar of Flame.
NPCs
Osiris and the Cult of Osiris; his Ghost Sagira; the Sunbreakers have a Forge here; Saint-14's tomb lies in the Simulant Future.
Lore
The Infinite Forest is a Vex simulation with Past, Present and Future timestreams. Saint-14 was lost in it for centuries fighting the Vex, which preserved his body as a memorial. Osiris, exiled from the City over his obsession with the Vex, found they were simulating futures of total Vex victory, which the Guardian prevented.
History and status
Mercury launched as the setting of Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris (December 5, 2017). The sources disagree on what happened next. Wikipedia's Destiny 2: Beyond Light article says Mercury was among five destinations removed into the Destiny Content Vault at Beyond Light's launch (November 2020). Destinypedia says Mercury was taken by the Black Fleet and later returned to the Sol System in-universe; the previous text of this page said it was vaulted in Season of Arrivals, which neither source read here supports.
