History of Origin Trait

Revision 17777 by archivist at 2026-10-10 08:12:41

Overview

Origin traits are innate perks that a Legendary weapon carries in its own perk column. They are not randomly rolled. Each one comes from the activity the weapon drops in or from its manufacturer (foundry), and the bonus is designed to give activity and foundry weapons a distinct identity. The system was introduced with The Witch Queen (Year 8).

How they work

  • A weapon can have an activity trait, a manufacturer trait, or both. If it has both, only one is active at a time.
  • Weapons with no manufacturer always get Psychohack.
  • Crafted weapons get their manufacturer's trait, or Psychohack if they have none (see Weapon crafting).
  • Weapons obtained before Season 16 have no origin trait.

Activity traits

Nightfall and Trials weapons can roll either their endgame or core activity trait, but only one is active at a time.

Manufacturer (foundry) traits

  • Hakke: Hakke Breach Armaments (extra damage against vehicles, turrets, barricades and Stasis crystals)
  • Omolon: Omolon Field Dynamics (faster reload and better stability for the top half of the magazine)
  • Suros: Suros Synergy (bonus handling after reloading)
  • Veist: Veist Stinger (chance on hit to reload the magazine and increase ADS movement speed)
  • PsiOps / Cabal: Land Tank (increased resilience and damage resistance from final blows)

Notes

  • Origin traits are shown in the weapon's own column, separate from the random trait columns in Weapon perk.
  • Trait effects listed here date from The Witch Queen (2022) and may have changed since.
  • New origin traits may be added in later seasons; linked trait pages are above where they exist.
