History of Precision Instrument

Overview

Precision Instrument is a Season 22 trait. Dealing sustained damage increases precision damage, so the longer you keep hitting a target the stronger your precision hits get. It rolls on many weapon types, and an enhanced version exists.

Effect and values

Each weapon hit adds a stack that lasts 1.25 seconds, up to 6 stacks. Community testing reports the precision damage bonus per stack as 4.2%, 8.34%, 12.5%, 16.7%, 20.8% and 25% at 1 through 6 stacks. The enhanced version improves the bonus, but its exact values are not listed in the sources used here.

Tips

Because stacks expire after 1.25 seconds, steady firing on the same target matters more than short bursts. Season listings differ: the Destiny Game Wiki places the trait in Season 22, while Shattered Vault catalogues it with The Edge of Fate.
