History of Protheon

Protheon, Modular Mind is the awakened Vex Mind buried beneath the surface of Nessus in Arcadian Valley, which was uncovered while drilling. It is the final boss of The Inverted Spire Strike, and the Strike's goal is to destroy it. The Mind is reached by going down past the drill, and it returns as a boss in the Reprise version of the Strike.
