History of Shadows

Overview

The Shadows (Shadows of Emperor Calus) are an elite order of champions serving Calus, drawn, in his words, from the best of each world he has encountered. Members come from several species, including Cabal such as Gahlran and Valus Nohr, Fallen such as Sekris, Psions such as Feltroc and Voyc, plus Sindu, Arkborn, Clipse and Exo members (Destinypedia).

Role

They originally acted as assassins hunting those involved in the Midnight Coup against Calus; his scribes' Chronicon says their deeper purpose was to usher in the end of times. After Dominus Ghaul's fall, Calus invited Guardians aboard the Leviathan to prove themselves, and those who passed were named his Shadows of Earth, with a Tribute Hall built to honour them. The Vanguard watched this closely.

Gear

The Fulminator Suit is armor themed on a Shadow, the Fulminator. Calus's later fate as a Disciple of the Witness left the status of the remaining Shadows unclear.
