History of Shield Disorient

Overview

Shield Disorient is a trait that triggers when you break an enemy's shield with an energy-matched weapon. The explosion disorients nearby combatants and damages enemies close to it. Energy weapons break shields faster than kinetic ones either way, so the perk is a bonus rather than the main way to break shields.

Notes

A 2020 Bungie forum thread called the perk weak in practice because shields are rare. A later update reportedly applied the disorient to bosses; this could not be confirmed.
