History of Shin Malphur

Shin Malphur is a renegade Hunter and protégé of Jaren Ward. Orphaned young, he was raised in the refugee town of Palamon, where Jaren gave him the revolver The Last Word. After Dredgen Yor destroyed Palamon, Jaren died confronting Yor alone. Shin became a Guardian and later killed Yor with The Last Word.

Shin founded the Shadows of Yor with Teben Grey, under the name Zyre Orsa, to identify Guardians drawn to Yor's path. His secret alias, Dredgen Vale, was a dark persona used to lure and eliminate corruptible Guardians. He passed The Last Word to the Guardian and gave them Yor's original Thorn, which was purified with Light to become Lumina.

Shin first appears in Forsaken and is mentioned in later content, including Season of the Drifter, Season of Opulence and Renegades.
