History of Sol

Sol is the Sun, the native star of the Sol System, the planetary system humanity originally settled. Humanity later retreated to Earth after the Collapse. The planets orbit the Sun.

Destinypedia ties the Sun and the planets to The Nine, four-dimensional dark matter entities. Member IX is associated with the Sun's gravity well.

Mercury is the first and closest planet to the Sun. The Traveler transformed it into a garden world, and the Vex later converted it into a planet-sized Machine World. The Black Fleet caused a gravitational anomaly that made Mercury disappear, and it has not returned. Member I of the Nine is tied to Mercury's gravity well.
