History of Sol

Sol is the Sun, the native star of the Sol System, the planetary system humanity originally settled. Humanity later retreated to Earth after the Collapse. The planets orbit the Sun.

The Sun is tied to The Nine, four-dimensional dark matter entities, and member IX is associated with the Sun's gravity well. Each planet has a member of The Nine tied to its gravity well: Venus (II), Mars (IV), Jupiter (V), Saturn (VI), Uranus (VII) and Neptune (VIII).

Mercury is the first and closest planet to the Sun. The Traveler transformed it into a garden world, and the Vex later converted it into a planet-sized Machine World. The Black Fleet caused a gravitational anomaly that made Mercury disappear, and it has not returned. Member I of the Nine is tied to Mercury's gravity well.
