History of The Dawning (event)

Overview

The Dawning is Destiny 2's annual winter holiday event, hosted by Eva in the Tower. During a live event, Guardians gather ingredients and Dawning Essence through combat and activities, bake gifts in Holiday Oven, and deliver treats for event rewards. Event cards, upgrades, recipes, activities, and rewards vary by year; the event is time-limited and this page does not imply that it is currently active.

Event loop

1. During the event, visit Eva in the Tower and use her Holiday Oven to bake recipes from gathered ingredients.
2. Deliver baked gifts to their named recipients and complete that year's event challenges to earn Dawning rewards and Dawning Spirit.
3. Use Eva's event upgrades and reward options while the event is active. Bungie Help says event-card rewards can only be claimed during the live event.
4. In the 2025 edition, Bungie introduced Dawning: Snowball Fight as a Crucible Ops activity and dated the event from December 16, 2025 to January 6, 2026. Those dates and activities describe that edition only; consult Bungie's current announcements for future schedules.
