History of The Last Word
Revision 14715 by archivist at 2026-10-09 05:14:27
The Last Word is a Kinetic Exotic Hand Cannon and the return of the Year 1 Destiny classic. Unlike other hand cannons it is automatic: 225 RPM with an 8-round magazine.
Overview
- Intrinsic trait – Fan Fire: rapid continuous fire, with faster reload and better accuracy on successive hip-fire hits.
- Curated roll: Corkscrew Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Hip-Fire Grip, Textured Grip.
- Archetype: Hand Cannon (Aggressive-style hip-fire automatic).
Acquisition
- Exotic Archive: buy it at the Archive in the Tower with an Exotic Cipher, Glimmer, Legendary Shards and an Ascendant Shard (costs per a search summary; verify in-game).
- Historical: it was originally earned through the exotic quest "The Draw" in Forsaken, which is no longer available. Destiny Game Wiki also mentions the Monument to Lost Lights as a former route, but sources conflict on this and it appears superseded by the Archive.
Catalyst
Added in June 2026, the catalyst grants Killing Wind (final blows increase mobility, range, and handling briefly) and Envious Assassin (defeats with other weapons before drawing The Last Word transfer ammo from reserves and can overflow the magazine). The objective is 500 target defeats. PC Gamer’s June 10, 2026 table lists Vanguard Ops, Crucible, Gambit, or Exotic Order payouts as acquisition sources.
