History of Top of Class

Overview

Top of Class is an Exotic quest offered by Eva Levante in the Tower during the Guardian Games event. It rewards the Heir Apparent Machine Gun. It takes roughly one to two hours, mostly spent getting Machine Gun kills in any activity.

Availability: the quest is tied to Guardian Games and is only obtainable while the event is running. Older guides describe earlier versions (see Trivia).

Walkthrough

1. Earn a Medallion. Complete Guardian Games activities, such as the event playlist or Eva Levante's bounties, with your class item equipped. Even a lower-tier Medallion counts for this step.
2. Defeat 100 targets with Machine Guns. Any activity counts. Defeating Guardians grants bonus progress, so Crucible matches are the fastest route. Equip any Machine Gun, for example a Void or Arc heavy.
3. Return to Eva Levante to claim Heir Apparent.

Rewards

• Heir Apparent (Exotic Machine Gun). It must be spun up by aiming down sights before it can fire.

Trivia

• Sources disagree on earlier versions: Shacknews describes a version requiring 50 Laurels in the Guardian Games strike playlist then Machine Gun kills in the Daily Focus playlist (2021 era), while Sirus Gaming describes a 2022 version following the "Best in Class" quest with 50 Laurels then 100 Machine Gun kills.
