History of Untethered Edge Vest

Overview

Untethered Edge Vest is a Legendary Chest Armor for the Hunter class, part of the Untethered Edge armor set introduced in Episode: Echoes. The set comes in matching Titan, Hunter and Warlock versions; its flavor text for this slot reads "One breath". Its lore centers on Failsafe, with conversations involving Caiatl, Saint-14 and Ikora Rey.

Acquisition

Per Destinypedia, the set dropped from Echo engrams, Failsafe at the H.E.L.M., and the Echoes activities Breach Executable, Battleground: Echoes and Encore. Echoes gear has since left its original sources; a Bungie forum post reports pieces (including class items, at lower rates) still dropping from Battleground: Echoes in Onslaught rewards, and search results suggest the Monument to Seasons Past and Ada-1 as other routes, which I could not verify. Treat current availability as uncertain.
