History of Vex Invasion

Vex Invasion was a seasonal Vex activity on the Moon in Destiny 2, introduced in Season of the Undying (October 2019) after Shadowkeep. Reported formats differ (2019): one guide describes a Legendary quest given by Ikora Rey, while another describes a world event that ran for the whole season.

Quest steps

1. Emergent Protocol: defeat 3 Gate Lords and 100 Vex on the Moon, after the Shadowkeep mission A Mysterious Disturbance.
2. Eyes on the Moon: visit Eris Morn in the Sanctuary.
3. A World Apart: complete one Vex Offensive.
4. The First of Many: return to Ikora Rey.

Each step awards 10 Vex Mind Components and one Powerful gear item.

World event

Invasions took place in three areas of the Moon's Ocean of Storms: Anchor of Light, Archer's Line and Hellmouth. Each began with an Ultra-level Gate Lord surrounded by Goblins, Hobgoblins and Harpies. Once it took damage it summoned two Quantum Hydras, which had to be destroyed first. Three Gate Lords ended the activity. If every Hydra and Gate Lord fell, a Vex Overlord appeared, and a nearby chest held Legendary Vex Mind Components and seasonal gear.
