History of Waking Realm

The Waking Realm is the ordinary side of Duality's mindscape, the realm of Calus's memories that players return to after ringing a bell from the Nightmare Realm. Cabal enemies here are Loyalists, while Nightmare Realm enemies are Red Legion.

Honored Bellkeepers guard the Bells of Conquest on this side. Standards are deposited here, and the Destinypedia page notes that depositing them opens new areas. Bells can only be rung again after the in-game message confirms that the Waking Bells may ring once more.
