Athenaeum World

Overview

Athenaeum Worlds were massive planetary archives of knowledge and technology built by the Cabal Empire. Much of their technology came from species the Cabal absorbed or conquered, and their vaults held dangerous technology, including 'sentient anomalies', 'thought-powered reality smashers' and 'portable world-enders'.

Calus had the Crown of Sorrow, found on a Hive War Moon, converted into an Athenaeum World to store Hive materials.

Athenaeum World X

Athenaeum World X is the only Athenaeum World known by name. It is cited to the Chronicon entry MCXVII from the Season of Opulence, which Bungie dated June 4, 2019.

Status

After the Cabal lost Torobatl and most of their empire to Xivu Arath's Hive and Wrathborn forces, the Loyalist caretakers that Calus posted on each Athenaeum World have not been heard from for a long time.
