History of Borealis

Borealis is an Exotic Energy-slot Sniper Rifle that is Void by default.

Overview

Its intrinsic perk, The Fundamentals, lets you hold reload to cycle damage between Solar, Arc and Void. Ionic Return transfers ammo and grants a PvE damage boost when you break a matching energy shield.

Acquisition

• Exotic engrams: an extremely rare drop.
• Xûr: occasionally sold, per one wiki.
• History: it was a PlayStation exclusive in Year 1 and became available on all platforms in Year 2 (with Destiny 2: Forsaken per Destinypedia).

Catalyst

The Borealis Catalyst drops randomly from defeating non-Guardian enemies. Completing it needs 150 Arc, 150 Solar and 150 Void kills with the weapon. It adds reload speed (+20 per Destinypedia, +18 per the D2 Wiki, so the number may have changed) and Shield Disorient, where energy-matched shield explosions disorient nearby combatants.
