History of CONTACT

CONTACT is a lore triumph for an entry in the lore book The Singular Exegete, introduced in Season of Arrivals (2020). Completing the entry unlocks this triumph.

Lore

The entry reports that enemy factions are turning to the Darkness for power following their defeats by the Guardians. Written as a combination of an encrypted VanNet transmission and personal observations by Eris Morn, the passage documents the author's isolation and concern about espionage.

Eris recounts an encounter with a Guardian named Enina, who was sent by the Drifter and his affiliated Guardians to recruit the author's knowledge of Darkness manipulation. Enina's mission reveals that some Guardians are actively seeking forbidden Darkness techniques, thrilling and terrifying the author with possibilities of corruption and the danger such knowledge poses if misused. The entry emphasizes the psychological strain of isolation and the spreading influence of Darkness across multiple enemy factions simultaneously.

Set during Season of Arrivals, when the Witness was preparing its arrival and various enemy factions faced weakening after major Guardian victories. Multiple forces—Hive, Vex, Fallen, and Scorn—were simultaneously vulnerable to Darkness corruption.
