Scorn
Overview
The Scorn are a horde of undead Fallen created from dead or repeatedly killed Fallen and transformed by Darkness-tainted Ether, called Dark Ether, into warped, relentless fighters. Their creation traces back to the Ahamkara Riven. They escaped the Prison of Elders under Fikrul and Uldren Sov, killed Cayde-6, and later served The Witness. Many quests require defeating them, for example Of Queens and Worms.
Origin
Prince Uldren Sov, corrupted by Darkness, wished to save the mortally wounded Fallen Fikrul. Riven granted the wish by transferring part of Uldren's Darkness into Fikrul's Ether, which raised Fikrul as the first Scorn. Uldren and Fikrul then seized the House of Kings and slaughtered it, and Fikrul raised the dead Kings as the first Scorn army. The two led the Scorn together, with Uldren as nominal leader and Fikrul as the Archon who commanded the Scorned Barons.
Escape and aftermath
After the Red War, Uldren and Fikrul surrendered and were imprisoned in the Prison of Elders. Uldren tricked the jailer Variks into releasing the inmates, which set off a riot, and Fikrul had raised Scorn to aid the breakout. During the escape, Uldren killed the Hunter Vanguard Cayde-6 with his Hand Cannon. The Guardian then avenged Cayde by hunting down the Scorned Barons across the Tangled Shore.
Later, the Scorn came under the control of the Witness and its followers, who used them as pawns against the Guardians and against Savathûn. After the Witness was destroyed, Fikrul survived and began creating Revenant Scorn from living Fallen using Echo artifacts from the Witness's defeat.
Enemy types
The Forsaken expansion introduced the Scorn as a new enemy faction. Their common types include Raiders, which teleport and swing rotating saw blades of Void energy, Screebs, which move crouched and explode when close, Lurkers, which carry shields, and Ravagers, which carry a censer of magical fire and hurl it. The Scorned Barons, eight heavy criminals, are the most powerful Scorn and have unique abilities.
