Overview

Crystallized Fear is a triumph in Destiny 2 worth 10 score. It is earned by clearing every encounter of the Root of Nightmares raid with a full fireteam that is using Stasis subclasses. The four tracked encounters are Cataclysm, Scission, Macrocosm and Nezarec.

How to complete

  1. Assemble a full six-player fireteam. Every member must be on a Stasis subclass before the raid starts, and nobody should swap subclass during the run.
  2. Cataclysm: Two players build the Field of Light node network while the rest clear adds and kill the Psions. Do not refresh your Field of Light buff until the next node is active, or you can strip your partner's buff. Each defeated Tormentor extends Sweeping Terror by 35 seconds, so build the network quickly enough that you do not need that time.
  3. Scission: Split the team into two sides. One player per side carries the buff across the gap using the pistons, activates the node and returns to refresh it. A third player can grab the buff and activate the next node while the jumper is coming back. Redolence enemies only take damage with the matching buff: Splendor needs Field of Light and Decay needs Flux of Darkness. When the network is complete a Major Redolence spawns, and its defeat drops the shard for the next piston.
  4. Macrocosm (Zo'Aurc): Defeat the Terrestrial Lieutenants to gain Planetary Insight, which reveals planet colours on that side. Four players swap the odd-one-out planets across the room while two clear enemies. Deposit the revealed planets on the matching plates. In the damage phase, stand on the plate that matches the boss's shield, and deal enough damage on each plate to reach the notch in the boss's health bar or you lose access to the remaining plates.
  5. Nezarec: Build both the Light and Dark node networks quickly, because slow builds lead to a team wipe. When Nezarec roams, shoot his chest to stun him. If you need a Refuge, check his shoulder colour: dark means taking Field of Light to a Flux node, and light means taking Flux to a Field of Light node. In the damage phase, debuff him with Shadowshot or Void weaken and use Thunderlord and Divinity; save heavy ammo for the final stand.

Tips

  • Shacknews's guide lists Strand, Solar and Titan options for add control. None of those are Stasis, so plan Stasis-based add control in advance.
  • The Conditional Finality shotgun, a raid exotic, splits its damage between Stasis and Solar, which makes it a useful pick for a Stasis loadout.
  • Raid mechanics and encounter tuning date from the raid's release. Check a current guide if a step does not match what you see.
