Overview

Darkest Before is a Legendary Solar Pulse Rifle, originally a Trials of the Nine weapon whose flavor text is attributed to the Emissary of the Nine. In the refreshed version its first-column perks include Heal Clip, Subsistence, Elemental Capacitor, Attrition Orbs, Deconstruct and Wellspring, and its second column includes Incandescent, Kill Clip, One for All, Headseeker, Focused Fury and Surplus. Game Rant's perk breakdown calls Incandescent a PvE standout and Headseeker the PvP pick, and rates it as the best weapon from the dungeon.

Acquisition

Drops from the final boss of the Prophecy dungeon (Kell Echo), alongside Judgment, since the March 5, 2024 refresh. In the March 5, 2024 loot refresh during Season of the Wish, Prophecy swapped its old Trials of the Nine weapons for reprised ones, and every reprised weapon gained the Crossing Over origin trait (increased range and handling for the top half of the magazine, increased damage for the bottom half). Earlier sources describe it as an Arc pulse rifle, reflecting the pre-refresh version.
