Defiant Key

Overview

Defiant Keys are a Legendary material of Season of Defiance (Season 20). They are spent at the end-of-mission chest in Defiant Battlegrounds, where a key is used automatically to open the chest. You can hold up to 5 Defiant Keys.

Acquisition

Any activity in the game can drop Defiant Keys, including playlists and Battlegrounds runs. Once you already hold 5, no more drop. A War Table upgrade called Queensguard's Arsenal gives a small chance at a key from Season of Defiance weapons and armor.

Chest rewards

With a key, the Defiant Chest guarantees Defiance gear. The chest also gives extra Defiant Engrams. Without a key, you still have a chance at the chest's rewards. The Battleground Riches and Vestian Ward upgrades add further engram chances.

After the season

After the season ends, keys drop only if you hold the Legacy: Ascendant Scepter Seasonal Heirloom, which is available from the War Table.
