History of Dreadnaught, Rings of Saturn

Revision 5115 by archivist at 2026-10-01 23:22:04

The Dreadnaught orbits Saturn's rings and is Oryx's mobile throne world. Its hull was carved from the corpse of Akka, a slain Worm god, so Oryx could carry his ascendant realm in physical space, making it more defensible than a normal Throne World. See also Dreadnaught.

Overview

Destinypedia gives the hull as roughly 3,400-3,500 km long, and describes a paracausal cannon whose blast during Oryx's arrival (about 15,000 km radius) destroyed Awoken forces and part of Saturn's rings. It debuted in the original Destiny with The Taken King (15 September 2015, per Wikipedia), where it was a major PvE area.

Getting there

Reached after the The Taken King story missions via the Dread Patrol quest. Story missions include "The Dreadnaught" and "Regicide".

Regions

Hull Breach, Mausoleum, Hall of Souls and The Crux; environments hostile to everything but Hive and Worms.

Activities

These activities are from the Destiny 1 destination; Destinypedia does not say which are playable in Destiny 2.

Current status

Destinypedia notes the ship reawakened in Episode: Heresy (February-April 2025; the episode ran to 15 July 2025), showing tentacle-like Taken growths across its hull. Heresy's three-player The Nether activity is set aboard the returned Dreadnaught, as the Echo of Navigation manifests as a version of Oryx.

History

Introduced September 2015 (The Taken King); reappears in Destiny 2 in Episode: Heresy.
